We’re going to take a look at both in this guide, to help you re-acclimate to the new face of Diablo III while taking advantage of the nifty new features that the expansion pack introduces. Reaper of Souls is a paid add-on, but Loot 2.0 – which is arguably even more vital to the shifted flow of the game – is completely free. More than that, the game’s approach to difficulty settings has been completely re-engineered, as have the under-the-hood mechanisms that handle loot drops. For one, the Auction House in the PC version of the game is gone. There’s also Blizzard’s Loot 2.0 update, which amounts to a foundational change on multiple levels. The new Reaper of Souls expansion adds a healthy amount of content, but it’s not just that. Diablo III is not the same game that it was when it launched in 2012.
